How do I get rid of layers in a drawing that do not delete when I hit the delete button on the layer manager dialog?
Solution: Layers that can not be deleted by the delete button on the layer manager dialog can have any of several possible things to look at. Most likely it is because the layer is referenced by something in the drawing. One possibility is that the layer is defined within a block. When the block was defined, the person that defined the block included an entity in the block definition that is inserted on a specific layer. That applies to attributes within the block. The only way to get rid of the offending layer is to explode or to redefine the block. To check for this problem insert each suspected block on a blank drawing, explode the block, then try deleting the layer if it appears in the drawing. Another way is by using the 'Purge' command. |

When I update the notes in the drawing through InfoEngine, all the text appears as 0.000000 at a slight angle.
Solution: Enter Style at the Command: prompt. Set the Height to 0". Pick Apply and then close the Style dialog. You could also choose a different text style as the current text style. Now use InfoEngine to Update the notes again. Supporting Information: All of the routines within the CadPLUS system place text based upon the current text style. If the current text style has a predefined height (a specifically defined height of 6", for example), The routine skips over the text height and places the rotation angle in as the text. All text the CadPLUS system is multiplied by the current scale factor to place the text at the correct height for the scale you are working at. |

Solution:
There is something "out in space" on your drawing. If you are in an Architectural drawing with new doors inserted, it is most likely a point(s) at coordinates 0,0 that was created when CadPLUS drew the door. Turn on all layers and zoom your drawing with a center of 0,0. Erase the points and try Zoom/Extents again. Here's another way of taking care of it. If you turn on all the layers, then do an erase command and at the first select options prompt enter all, then at the next select options prompt enter remove, and select the things you don't want to erase by window or crossing window, etc, and then hit enter. This will literally erase everything you don't want to remain in your drawing. |

Setting scale as you go from Paperspace to Model Space. Or what do I do when I insert text in the drawing and it comes in very small?
Solution: As you go to Paper Space by selecting Sheet Setup off of the Util menu the drawing scale is set to 1:1. This is the correct scale for working in Paper Space. You want to enter text and inserted blocks into paper space at 1:1. When you leave paper space and "Return to Model Tab" the system prompts you to set the scale back to your drawing scale. If you bypass the ssystem and pick the model tab you will need to pull down the Util menu and pick Adjust Scale. Set your scale back to 1/8" or whatever scale you are working at. This will keep your symbols and text from inserting at a tiny size. |

I am getting what looks like a layer command at the command prompt but all it says is invalid option keyword.
Solution: This can happen when you are starting the system up or when you are trying to insert doors or windows. Pull down the layer menu and select 'Thaw all layers' and unlock all layers. Cadplus turns on or off layers, when a layer that the system is trying to use is frozen or locked you will get strange error messages. |

When I use the Show Me command in InfoEngine, the query says it passes objects to be hatched but nothing is hatched in the drawing. The hatch doesn't appear.
Solution: Enter Fill at the Command prompt. Turn the Fill toggle on and your hatches will appear the next time you hatch a query set. You can also check to make sure the current layer is turned on, not frozen and unlocked. |

How do I move the vertex of a polyline so I can get the origin in the upper left corner?
Solution: Use the PEDIT command in AutoCAD. Enter 'pedit' at the command prompt and select the polyline to change. Enter E to change to the Edit vertex portion of the 'pedit' command. Notice that an X appears on the polyline at the origin point. If you need to move the origin enter M for the move option and move the origin to the point you need it at. Then as you enter N the X will move to the next vertex. Move each vertex to its new location as you position the X on that particular vertex. If you need an additional vertex, use the Insert option to add a new vertex. When you are finished you will be able to use the edit vertex option to start with the X that appears and move around the pline in one direction or the other. Keep in mind that it may be easier to erase a pline and redraw it in some instances. If you erase a polyline from a drawing, use the audit and pack options in InfoEngine to make sure the erased pline is removed from the polyline table. Alternatively, you can break the polyline into many segments and then use the 'pedit' command to pick the segments in the order to recreate the polyline with the origin at the proper location. Be careful to pick the segments in a logical sequence. |
